Greene County Food Pantry Marks 18 Years with a New Home
GCFP’s new home means more room to serve the community
The Greene County Food Pantry (GCFP) is celebrating 18 years of service and a new chapter of growth with the purchase of a permanent home to better serve families in need.
Founded in 2007, GCFP has grown from offering a few canned goods to distributing an average of 45 pounds of nutritious food each month to more than 550 families across Greene County.
After years of operating within the Greene County Housing Authority complex, the Pantry has outgrown its space. The new facility, located at 1220 Siloam Road in Greensboro, will provide a welcoming, efficient hub for clients and volunteers, expanding the organization’s capacity for years to come.
A generous donor made the purchase possible through a major contribution and a low-interest, five-year loan. To prepare the building for full operation, GCFP is now working to raise $350,000 to support renovations, utilities, transportation, and 2026 operating costs.
Food insecurity remains a serious challenge in Greene County, impacting children, families, and seniors alike. Every dollar donated helps ensure neighbors have access to the healthy food they need to thrive.
The Greene County Food Pantry extends heartfelt thanks to its donors, volunteers, and community partners for 18 years of steadfast support and looks forward to announcing its grand opening soon.
A financial gift will help GCFP open doors to greater impact, deeper connections, and lasting change. Learn more and donate at gcfpantry.org.
