About Us

Founded in 2007, the Greene County Food Pantry is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (Tax ID #26-213-5416) dedicated to reducing hunger in our community. We proudly serve qualifying residents of Greene County, Georgia, through monthly food distributions designed to ease the burden of food insecurity. All donations to the Pantry are tax-deductible.

Our goal is to provide individuals and families in need with a nutritionally balanced selection of groceries, such as fruit, vegetables, canned goods, boxed dinners, rice, and bread.

Since opening our doors, the Pantry has served more than ~550 families monthly, with each receiving an average of 40-50 pounds of food per visit. Over 2 million pounds of food have been distributed in the past six years alone. Through compassion, community support, and a commitment to dignity and respect, we continue to work toward a future where no one in Greene County goes without the basic necessity of food.

Greene County 2025 Income Overview

The 2025 Greene Wellbeing Project was created in partnership with Dr. Grace Bagwell Adams and the Athens Area Community Foundation to create a more comprehensive understanding of how to improve wellbeing in Greene County - with the aim to inform community stakeholders on the community's most pressing needs and build local capacity to better meet these needs through providing meaningful data.
